Mr. Awtry was inspired by his success in pioneering sustainable business practices and launched Rightsize in 2004 after being awarded the assignment to decommission more than 3.0 million square feet of office space throughout the U.S. Other high profile assignments followed and Mr. Awtry quickly amassed an enviable roster of high profile clients.
Since its inception, Rightsize has decommissioned tens of millions square feet of commercial office space and delivered and installed product in offices in nearly every state across the continental U.S. Today the firm Mr. Awtry started in a spare bedroom now employs 85 professionals with annual revenue of more than $15.0 million.
An ambitious entrepreneur who is continually rewriting the rules in the commercial furniture business, Mr. Awtry began his career at Rentacrate, Inc. where he had an opportunity to lead with his high energy, personable and creative business style while focusing on business practices that would have a positive impact on the environment.
He quickly rose through the executive ranks and revolutionized Corporate America’s relocation procedures by pioneering the use of reusable plastic crates as a replacement for wasteful cardboard boxes. Under his leadership Rentacrate expanded to 11 locations while revenue grew 20-fold to more than $14 million.
Mr. Awtry is an active member of his community and, through Rightsize, provides both monetary and product donations to non-profit and charitable organizations throughout the year as part of the company’s corporate commitment to philanthropy and sustainability. In the past 12 months Rightsize has donated to the following organizations: Chicago Public Schools, Family Service Association of Greater Elgin Area, The Tatra Mountain Cultural Foundation, National Association of Professional Women, Naperville Community Television, American Cancer Society, Follett Educational Foundation, Respiratory Health Association, Relay for Life and Ashby FIRE EMS Association.
Mr. Awtry holds a Bachelor of Business Administration and Management from Bentley College in Waltham, Massachusetts.
